Exhibition Statement

I had lived in Chinatown and I was allured into lighting stores because of its dark and quiet space with no sense of time and hint of secrecy.
I was able to escape reality with few blocks walk from my apartment.

Photo story "Lighting Store" is composed of 20 photographs.
700 limited edition prints has been published by publishing company Match and Co. in 2012.
First prints were made on 8" x 10" gelatin silver prints with single weight paper. Second was on fabric paper and for this exhibition 20" x 24" prints were made as a final format.
Gray margins at top and bottom of the image were made during production process in the dark room.

A lot of chandeliers on the ceiling.
Strong looking silver hooks hold them.
Standing lamps, cardboard boxes and copied sculptures on the floor.
It is all disconnected from recent news, sun light and Bowery street.
Wipe crystals, put them together and take them apart.
Repeat again.
70 years and more.
I saw a red car.
I imagine passing scenery from a moving car, eat fresh ice cream and travel beyond 14th street.
I am always bored.
