Other VIP guests included Oscar-winning American filmmaker Sid Ganis and Ambassador Sun Guoxiang, Consul General of the People’s Republic of China in New York.
Co-organized by the Chinese American Arts Council and China Central Television Movie Channel (CCTV-6), the Fourth New York Chinese Film Festival featured acclaimed talents and filmmakers such as Wesley Wong, Wu Xiubo, Larry Yang, Donnie Yen, Miriam Yeung and Zhao Wei. The opening night also marked the U.S. premiere of SO YOUNG, the directorial debut of China’s leading actress Zhao Wei.

With help from a non-profit organisation seven films from mainland China and Hong Kong are being shown at New York’s Lincoln Centre, in order to promote Chinese art and culture.

Presented by the Chinese American Arts Council and the Chinese movie channel CCTV-6, the festival will screen 7 films from Hong Kong & China throughout the 3-day event and will additionally feature renowned filmmakers and performers Vicky Zhao Wei, Miriam Yeung, Xiubo Wu and Donnie Yen. Zhao Wei's directorial debut "So Young" will feature as the festival's opening night film at Lincoln Center's Alice Tully Hall. Film screenings will take place Empire 25 followed by a closing night awards ceremony at Capitale.

Since 2010, the New York Chinese Film Festival has quietly promoted some of the latest features from Hong Kong and the Mainland and hosted some of China's biggest names. In previous years, superstars like Zhang Ziyi, Leon Lai, Aaron Kwok, Daniel Wu, Cecilia Cheung, Ching Siu-Tung, Han Geng and Vivian Hsu have graced the festival. Though of a shorter duration than in previous editions, the 2013 NYCFF seems equally mighty.
