Artist Statement

Ming Fay's work has been exhibited extensively in the US and abroad. He is the subject of 30 solo exhibitions and over 200 group exhibitions. His recent awards include: 2008 Sculpture Award at the National Academy of Art Museum, 183rd Annual Exhibition, New York, NY; 2007 an individual artist fellowship from New York Foundation for the Arts in sculpture . Ming Fay received his BFA in sculpture from Kansas City Art Institute and his MFA from University of California, Santa Barbara. He lives and maintains his studio in New York City.
Recent one person exhibitions include Leslie Heller Workspace,NYC,2010;Eight Modern Gallery, NM, 2008; Shanghai MOCA, 2007;and Butters Gallery, OR, 2006. Selected group exhibitions include, Hillwood Art Museum, NY 2010;MOCA,NYC, 2009;New Ink Art Innovation and Beyond, Hong Kong Museum of Art, 2008;5th Int’l Ink Biennial, He Xiangning Museum, Shenzhen, China, 2006; Lodz Biennial at the International Artist Museum in Lodz, Poland; 2004; and the recent national traveling sculpture exhibition, Material Terrain, organized by the International Arts & Artist, Washington DC. Ming Fay's sculpture was also featured in books: Encyclopedia of Asian American Artists, Along the Way, MTA Arts for Transit; City Art: New York’s Percent for Art Program; Facing Sculpture; Contemporary Outdoor Sculpture and the subject of a profile in Sculpture Magazine in 2003 among numerous other reviews.
