Mary Ting is a visual artist working in drawing, sculpture and installation. Mary’s work focuses on memory, loss and nature. Recent solo exhibitions in the NYC area include Lambent Foundation, Dean Project, metaphor contemporary art, and Kentler International Drawing Space. Recent group shows include Athens School of Fine Arts, Greece, Bennington University, AMP, Provincetown and the Central Booking Gallery, NYC. Ting is a two-time New York Foundation for the Arts fellow, and a recipient of numerous awards and grants from the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council MCAF grantee, Lambent Foundation Fellow, Pollack Krasner Foundation, Puffin Foundation, American Craft Council and the New York State Council on the Arts. She has been an artist in resident at the MacDowell Colony, Millay Colony, Lower Eastside Printshop, Dieu Donne Papermill Workspace, and the Bronx Museum Artist in the Marketplace among others.

Mary is also active with community social art projects such as her Daffodil Ashes: Grief and Art-making and her upcoming project on endangered species. She strongly believes in reaching out, enriching the lives of others and addressing important issues through the arts.

Mary Ting teaches in the studio art department and also the Sustainability and Environmental Justice program at John Jay College. She is also part of the studio faculty at Transart Institute MFA in Creative Practices, New York/Berlin. Mary has a BFA from Parsons School of Design, NYC, an advanced degree in folk art research from the Central Academy of Fine Art, Beijing, and a MFA from the Vermont College of Fine Art.
