吳欣慈
創作論述

吳欣慈在香港出生和成長。從2002年以後居於紐約市。她修讀於德國斯圖加特國家美術學院藝術系和紐約視覺藝術學院。

利用隨手拾來的材料,如胸圍帶、絲綢、頭髮、金屬鎖及衣架,的結構和隱喻性来塑造出具啟發性的雕塑作品。从而探索知覺,無意識和通過各種意識狀態感知的現實。

吳欣慈的剪影人物缺乏情感和身份的推論。服裝是唯一的視覺語言。鳳凰長袍和英國中世紀的皇族拉夫領無縫地裁合一起,看像和諧華麗,卻隱隱象徵著香港統治權力的轉換,以及身份的衝突性。

吳欣慈的作品曾多次在美國,歐洲和亞洲的畫廊和博物館展出,包括瑞士巴塞爾國際當代藝術展SCOPE Basel,紐約亞洲當代藝術博覽會,南佛羅里達州藝術中心的Richard Shack畫廊,捷克共和國埃貢席勒藝術中心,大阪市藝術博物館,北京中國美術館,新加坡舊國會大廈藝術之家等。

自1996年以來,她是日本現代美術協會評議員。她獲授獎項包括:2009/10年度紐約市藝術家倡議會獎學金,日本大阪總督獎,美國國家學院博物館和美術學院獎學金,和在捷克共和國埃貢席勒藝術中心作駐地藝術家。德意志銀行,德國斯圖加特市圖書館,德國霍爾茨布林克出版公司,文華東方酒店等也有收藏她的作品。評論文章曾出現在紐約時報,Yishu 典藏國際版,薩奇藝廊在線雜誌的評論家之選,邁阿密先驅報,香港明報,文匯報等。在2008年5月11日的星期日泰晤士報,吳欣慈被名為十位要注視的藝術家之一。
