Rooted in my experience as a South Korean woman navigating life in America, I transform the unseen labor of coexistence into visual form. It balances vulnerability and defense, self and other, exploring the dynamics of interconnection in coexistence.
My works, at once soft and spiky, carry the tenderness of life and the innate instinct for self-protection. Crafted from tactile, yielding materials that invite touch yet hint at a subtle sharpness, the forms both soothe and provoke. They hold the delicate balance of interconnection, creating moments for viewers to pause and sense the quiet efforts that sustain it.
Drawing attention to the quiet gestures that hold connection, I hope to provide glimpses of the possibility of a warmer, more compassionate way of living together.
