Kang Wang is an architectural designer and multidisciplinary artist based in New York City.
Born and raised in China, she earned her Master of Architecture from Pratt Institute and
currently practices at a boutique architecture firm. Her work spans commercial, civic,
educational, and residential projects, and this progression from large-scale public environments
to intimate domestic spaces has cultivated a nuanced sensitivity to scale, structure, and material
resistance.
Working across installation, sculpture, and photography, she investigates the relationship
between the built environment, the body, and material transformation. Her artistic practice is
deeply informed by her engagement with physical environments beyond architecture. As a
marathon runner and boulderer, her embodied understanding of gravity, endurance, and
resistance becomes a conceptual framework for her mixed-media installations. Alongside these
spatial works, she uses photography to document urban conditions and structural narratives.
Her current practice examines how everyday cultural ready-mades register, preserve, and
reveal the traces of thermodynamic and mechanical forces over time.
