Born in Shanghai, China, Yu Shi Chao spent his early life studying art at the Shanghai Fine Art Academy. He immigrated to USA in 1989 and since then, has devoted his life to realistic oil and unique ink paintings. He has held many individual exhibitions in the United States, Canada and Hong Kong. Auction Houses such as Christie’s and Sotheby’s have selected Mr. Yu’s paintings as part of their contemporary oil painting auction nine times. In fact, Christie’s designated Mr. Yu’s “Ballerina” painting as a part of “The Elite Contemporary Chinese Paintings Collection” along with other famous art works by artists Chen Yifei and Xu Beihong. His portrait of the former New York City Mayor, Rudy Giuliani, is displayed at the City Hall. His portrait of “Young Man” and painting of “Hometown Garden” received the International Excellence Award by the American Portrait Society and “International Artist” Magazine, respectively. Mr. Yu’s portfolio publications include “Yu Shi Chao’s Oil painting 1”, “Yu Shi Chao’s Oil painting 2”, “Yu Shi Chao’s Horse Painting” and “Sketches of C.C. Wang”.
